New Mexico Authorities Search Jeffrey Epstein’s Zorro Ranch Amid Renewed Investigation
Authorities in New Mexico launched a search this week at Jeffrey Epstein’s Zorro Ranch, reopening scrutiny on the controversial estate. New Mexico authorities search Epstein’s former Zorro Ranch !
The New Mexico Department of Justice confirmed the search early Monday morning. It follows allegations included in files recently released by the U.S. Justice Department. These documents drew attention to activities at the ranch when Epstein owned it before his death in 2019.
Officials have not revealed whether investigators found evidence during the initial search or how long the process will take.
Renewed Focus on Epstein’s New Mexico Property
Unlike Epstein’s other properties in New York, Florida, and the Caribbean, Zorro Ranch had avoided the same level of investigation. However, after the DOJ’s file release, Attorney General Raúl Torrez reopened the state’s criminal investigation, which federal prosecutors previously requested to close.
Among the released files was a 2019 email sent to a local radio host, alleging that two foreign girls were buried near the ranch. Though unverified, authorities are taking the claim seriously in the reopened probe.
Witness and Public Involvement
Radio host Eddy Aragon received the email and shared it with federal and state officials. Following the investigation reopening, Aragon participated in a thirty-minute interview with the New Mexico DOJ.
Additionally, Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard urged the DOJ to review the allegations. The state’s investigative office then reached out to gather documentation and background information.
Legislative Measures: Truth Commission
The New Mexico House of Representatives established a bipartisan Truth Commission to examine criminal activity surrounding the ranch. The commission can subpoena witnesses and demand testimony to uncover details.
Current Ownership and Cooperation
Today, the ranch is owned by the family of businessman and former Texas state senator Don Huffines, who confirmed full cooperation with authorities. DOJ officials also stated that staff at the property are assisting the investigation.
Authorities have asked the public to avoid Zorro Ranch, located roughly 30 miles south of Santa Fe, to prevent interference with ongoing law enforcement activities.
