Rocket League Season 22: What’s New and How It Changes the Game

Rocket League Season 22 launched on March 11, 2026, bringing several quality-of-life improvements that refine gameplay without changing the fast-paced, arcade-style soccer experience players love. The new season focuses on competitive clarity, smarter training tools, and helpful in-game indicators that make matches easier to understand and more enjoyable.

Here’s a closer look at the biggest updates in Rocket League Season 22 and how they affect the game.

Visible Matchmaking Rating (MMR)

For many years, the players of Rocket League did not know their exact matchmaking rating, which is also abbreviated as MMR. This rating defines the rank of the player and changes with each game won or lost.

The Season 22 has included an option for players to view their MMR rating. This has enabled players to easily know how close they are to achieving the next rank or falling to the next rank. This feature will be mostly useful to competitive players.

More Realistic Training

Training has always been an essential factor in developing skills such as aerial shots, saves, and precise goal scoring. However, in Season 22, the training aspect has been enhanced to simulate the actual match experience.

Tutorials can now be enabled to use randomized settings. This means the ball, its bouncing, and other situations may not be the same during training sessions. This has made the training aspect feel less repetitive, thus becoming more realistic.

New Flip Reset Indicators

Flip Reset is one of the most advanced techniques in Rocket League. It is achieved when at least three wheels touch the ball in mid-air. This resets the flip for the player.

For instance, players were forced to assume whether the flip reset was successful or not. Season 22 adds a minor visual hint that appears under your vehicle when flip reset is available. Note that it is not seen by other players and is not audible. There is also an option for players who would like to use the old version of flip reset to turn it off in settings.

Clear Boost Pad Recharge Progress

Boost pads give vehicles the extra speed needed for quick plays and fast recoveries. However, it has always been difficult to know exactly when a used boost pad will respawn.

Season 22 improves this system with a visual recharge indicator. Instead of guessing, players can now see a subtle progress bar that fills up as the boost pad gets closer to becoming active again. The exact timer is not shown, but the visual cue helps players plan their movements and rotations more effectively.

Bracket Rivalry Event

Season 22 has also brought in a new competitive community event called Bracket Rivalry. Eight duos of popular content creators will be competing in this tournament.

Between March 20 and March 26, you can buy your favorite duo’s Player Title in the Item Shop. The goals scored with this title will earn points for your favorite team. The event will culminate in a live event during the Rocket League Championship Series Paris Major 2026, which will be held at Paris La Défense Arena between May 20 and May 24, 2026.

Rocket Pass Premium Rewards

Some new features are available in Season 22 Rocket Pass Premium. Three new Dominus hit box car bodies are available to be unlocked:

BMW M2 Racing
Zefira
Maven

Some new cosmetic items are available, which are:

Checkers Topper
Foosball Goal Explosion
Yard Marker Antenna
Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” Decal
Cross-game rewards are available to Fortnite Crew subscribers from March 19.

Players can collect more items by logging in during the season and receiving Tournament Credits from tournaments.

A Strong Season for Competitive Players

Rocket League Season 22 is more about clarity and skill improvement rather than changing gameplay significantly. The changes made to visible MMR, training tools, flip resets, and boost pad recharge are more about making the game more understandable and ensuring that the competitive aspect is still there.

For both new and returning players, Season 22 is a great opportunity to get back into the game and start climbing those ranks again.
