Eva Mendes Gets Birthday Surprise from Ryan Gosling
Eva Mendes received a surprise on national television as she was brought on stage during an episode of the popular talk show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The surprise was arranged for Eva Mendes by her partner, Ryan Gosling, during the taping of the show, which was hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
The surprise was arranged while Ryan Gosling was on the show to promote his upcoming film, Project Hail Mary, in which he plays the role of a middle school teacher who wakes up on a spaceship without any recollection of how he ended up on the spaceship.
As part of the surprise, Eva Mendes was brought on stage without her knowledge of the surprise. As soon as Eva appeared on the stage, the audience sang the birthday song to celebrate Eva’s 52nd birthday. As part of the celebration, the show had arranged for a marching band from North Bergen High School in New Jersey, which had a flag that read, “Happy Birthday, Eva!”
Within the moment of time on the stage, a speech was given to the audience by Mendes, thanking the audience for their presence, which was comprised of teachers in recognition of the film’s theme. Gratitude was given to the teachers, and it was noted by Mendes that they were also underpaid, which elicited laughter and applause from the audience.
It was noted earlier within the show that the teachers held a special place in the heart of Mendes, and also that a hall monitor sash from her school days is displayed at their home as a tribute to her appreciation for teachers.
The relationship between Mendes and Gosling began in the year 2011 when the couple met while filming the movie The Place Beyond the Pines. Since then, the couple has been blessed with two daughters. The couple’s life has been kept private despite their success within the world of Hollywood.
A similar instance of this was seen at the 96th Academy Awards, which took place in 2024, when Gosling was seen attending the event with his family, while Mendes was backstage. At this event, Gosling performed the song “I’m Just Ken” from the film Barbie, which was directed by Greta Gerwig.
While interviewing with Fallon, a story was also shared about a school event in which Gosling was a part. There was a teacher who had a significant impact on the life of the actor, who had arranged a reading competition in which Gosling secured the second position. When this teacher left the school, an attempt was made by Gosling to recreate the famous scene from the film Dead Poets Society in which the character played by Robin Williams says, “O Captain! My Captain!”
At the end of this show, another surprise was revealed by Fallon, who told the entire audience at the studio that they would be attending a special screening of Project Hail Mary.
