Hegseth Says U.S. “Just Getting Started” as Iran War Escalates Across Region

Exclusive: Hegseth Says U.S. We Have Only Just Begun to Fight,”

A sense of deepening uncertainty has been felt across the region as Hegseth Says U.S. “Just Getting Started” in Iran War as Conflict Intensifies and Spreads, marking the fifth consecutive day of escalating confrontation between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

It was stated by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that the United States is “accelerating, not decelerating” its military operations. Additional assets are being moved into the region, and the scope of the conflict has been widened. Instability has been reported from Turkey to Sri Lanka, while intensified Israeli strikes have been carried out in Tehran and Lebanon.

A significant naval development was also disclosed. According to Hegseth, an Iranian warship was sunk in the Indian Ocean after a U.S. torpedo was deployed. The maritime dimension of the conflict has thus been expanded, signaling that the confrontation is no longer confined to air and land operations.

Inside Iran, further disruption has been acknowledged. The Iranian regime announced that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s planned three-day funeral has been postponed as hostilities continue. Civilian losses have mounted, with a U.S.-based monitoring organization reporting that more than 1,000 civilians have been killed, including over 180 children. Grief and uncertainty have been compounded as the violence persists.

Losses have also been confirmed on the American side. Six U.S. service members have been killed since the conflict began, underscoring the growing human toll.

Concerns over Iran’s nuclear program have also been raised. Israeli officials indicated that intelligence assessments suggested uranium could have been enriched to 90% — considered weapons-grade — within two weeks if such a decision had been made prior to the launch of U.S. and Israeli strikes. However, it was also assessed that Iran’s weaponization unit remained “far from producing a classic nuclear bomb,” suggesting that full nuclear capability had not yet been achieved.

Administration Pledges Safe Return of Americans

Amid the intensifying conflict, assurances have been delivered from Washington. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the Trump administration “will not rest” until all Americans in the Middle East who wish to return home are brought back safely.

It was emphasized that President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have been in contact with regional allies to address evacuation concerns. The safe return of American citizens has been described as a priority of the United States government.

At the same time, it has been reiterated that the broader objective remains unchanged: the threat posed by Iran is to be eliminated, and operations are to continue until that goal is achieved.

As Hegseth Says U.S. “Just Getting Started” in Iran War as Conflict Intensifies and Spreads, it has become increasingly clear that the confrontation is not stabilizing — it is expanding, both geographically and strategically — with no immediate end in sight.
